Seraphinite & Scolecite

Seraphinite is usually found with high flash chatoyancy in raw form and becomes incredibly shiny when polished. This mineral is usually seen in a very dark green color that almost resembles deep emerald or even black. It is mined in a limited area of eastern Siberia in Russia. Russian mineralogist Nikolay Koksharov (1818-1892 or 1893) is often credited with its discovery.

Where Is Scolecite Found?
Most scolecite is collected in the state of Maharashtra, India, though there are other localities including Elk Mountain in Washington State and large deposits in Iceland.

Though somewhat rare, scolecite is a popular mineral among collectors. It forms in volcanic bubbles called vesicles along with other zeolites.
